need to set up an appointment with a TAC but all the phone numbers I tried don't give me a live person

Hello

It is almost impossible to reach the IRS by phone. I would recommend that you go to a local IRS office to set an appointment. You may write the IRS to get a response to any questions that you have. If you want to continue to try the phone the best times are starting at 7 AM on Thursday or Friday mornings.

Hello stuffin621! Thanks for the question! The number to reach the Tax Assistance Center is 844-545-5640. It is recommended that you call early in the morning or just before the IRS phone lines (which are open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) close for your time zone.
