Question

How do I report Indiana estimated taxes I paid for tax year 2018?

I paid quarterly estimated taxes in Indiana for tax year 2018.  During the interview for my IT-40, I never was asked if I had paid estimated taxes during the step by step interview.  I was only able to add these by overriding and I don't want to do that.  Where can I find the proper way for adding these?

Please follow these instructions to enter your Indiana Estimated Taxes Paid:

  • Login to your TurboTax Account
  • Click "Take Me To My Return"
  • Click "Search" in the upper right corner, then type "Estimates Paid" in the Search Box.
  • When the results populate, click the "Jump to Link
  • From here you can enter any Federal, State, or Local Estimated Tax Payments you made for 2018

You enter state estimated payments under the federal side (because they can be a federal itemized Deduction.  THEN after you finish filling out the estimates under Federal you need to click on the State Tab at the top and start the state return over for it to update.

You can type estimates paid in the search box at the top of your return and click Find and it will give you a link to Jump To it.

OR
To enter Federal or State Estimated Taxes Paid, including a state estimated payment made in January for the prior year, go to
Federal on left or at top
Deductions and Credits at top
Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
Estimated Taxes - click the Start or Update button
