Generally, you must e-file the Federal first. You can then file your state later.

 

In the File section of TurboTax, you will be asked to choose what returns to file and to pay for. You may choose to e-file the Federal now and file the State later. If you elect to pay for the state later, you will not be able to include the return in the pay with your refund option.
