Intuit has elected not to renew its participation in the IRS Free File Program and will no longer be offering IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax. You may still qualify for other IRS Free File offers by visiting http:www.IRS.Gov/freefile. Or you can visit www.turbotax.com to see available TurboTax offerings.

Please see the below TurboTax FAQ that outlines the differences between the Free File Program and Free Edition so that you can select the program that is best for you:

    There are 2 options:
    1. TurboTax Free Edition
    2. TurboTax Free File Program (IRS Free File Program)

Option 1 -  TurboTax Free Edition

You can file with TurboTax Free Edition if you use form 1040 with no attached schedules.

Simple tax situations covered in TurboTax Free Edition for Tax Year 2018:
      • W-2 income
      • Limited interest and dividend income reported on a 1099-INT or 1099-DIV
      • Claiming the standard deduction
      • Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC)
      • Child tax credits
Situations not covered in TurboTax Free Edition include:
      • Itemized deductions
      • Business or 1099-MISC income
      • Stock sales
      • Rental property income
      • Credits, deductions and income reported on schedules 1-6, such as the Student Loan Interest Deduction

Option 2 - TurboTax Free File Program (IRS Free File Program)

You must be below the income requirement to qualify. TurboTax Free File Program is geared towards lower-income filers, regardless of tax return complexity, and is only offered through the IRS Free File Alliance (FFA) program. No upgrades are available.
