Question

How do we pay current year (2021) estimated tax payments on Turbo Tax?

Why can't I do this through Turbo Tax at time of filing prior year taxes or later by filling out the 1040-ES on Turbo Tax?

The IRS accepts the payments directly from the taxpayer for the estimated tax payments. TurboTax is not legally able to send these payments to the IRS.

You can determine the amount of estimated payments that you should pay in the 2020 tax return for the 2021 tax return. Some people send only one payment for the entire estimate amount if they do not want to pay on a quarterly basis. If you are going to send in one payment, it should be the first payment to avoid penalties for not paying throughout the year.

If the TurboTax software suggests 4 payments of $125, then you could pay one payment of $500 that would be due at the first due date (May 17, 2021).
