How do you select guardian ofyour dependent?

There is not a specific "Guardian" option.  Go back to the "My Info" section and "Edit" your dependent.  If the dependent is not related to you, they will qualify for the other dependent credit which is a non-refundable credit up to $500.  Click here for more information on the other dependent credit.

The option you will be presented with is "Your Child" or "Another person."   For tax purposes, “My child” only applies to biological, adopted, step, or foster children (placed by an agency).  

If your dependent doesn't fit the "My child" definition then select "Another person."  

If you select "Another Person" you will find a dropdown to select a relationship; if none apply select "Other."

Complete the interview questions on your dependent to determine the dependent qualification.
