There is no extension of time to pay, however you can wait for an IRS letter requesting payment which would give you 3-4 weeks to prepare.  Keep in mind that interest will apply for each day you are late, but at 3% it's much less than most credit cards.

You can also choose to pay at the IRS online payment site whenever you are ready:  IRS Payment Options

And if you choose you can request an installment agreement, but keep in mind there are fees that will apply.  All the information is listed for you below.

You can file/review/edit Form 9465 using TurboTax (online or desktop) by following the steps below.

  1. When you go through the interview to file your return (File, File a Return)
  2. You will get to a screen that asks How Do You Want to Pay Your Federal Taxes?
  3. There, you can choose to set up a Payment Installment Agreement.

Once you get here you should be able to review and/or edit your responses to the questions.

You can also apply Online for the Installment Agreement

You can also fill out the form manually & mail it in.
