MAX is an optional add on to any version of TurboTax. So the total cost depends on which version of the program you are using. Filing a state tax return adds about $40 to your bill but getting MAX to cover the state return as well also depends on which version of the program you are using.

When you reach the end of tax preparation the system will ask if you want to add MAX. If you say yes it will provide you with a total cost broken down by all of the add-ons and everything that you have used the software for. Read this carefully before moving on. You don't want to pay for anything that you don't want or need.
