How to answer the question "Which state are your $ of exempt interest-dividends from"?

My 1099-DIV details, supplements, etc. does not have any states mentioned. Can someone please advise?

Your brokerage statement should tell you the source of the exempt funds or you can find that information yourself on the web.

Hi, thanks for your response. My brokerage statement does not show a state. What would I search for to find it myself on the web?

We did approach our financial advisor from the brokerage and she was not sure and asked us to enquire with Turbo Tax.
