How to file NY State Tax Only (federal has already been accepted)

I have filed my family members' federal taxes with TurboTax software. All have been e-filed and accepted. I went on the NY State website and used the free TurboTax filing program for my son's state taxes ,and it made me go through the whole process again, and it will not let me file just state. I am stuck at the screen that says "e-file my taxes." Can I click on it even though I have already filed federal?

You can only e-file the state returns following a federal e-file in the same account. The other account does not know that you have e-filed already. Therefore you should go back to the account that you used to file the federal and file the state.there. You can also print and mail the return if the e-file option doesn't work for some reason.
