I am a PA resident and my husband is a NH resident, but we have some joint income in PA, so he needs to file a non-resident PA return.  I requested the PA tax return after finishing the Federal forms, and it asked questions for my husband and prepared his non-resident return.  I cannot figure out how to get it to now ask me my questions in order to prepare a Resident return for me?  Do I have to buy PA (as in the free state download will only accomodate one taxpayer).  Thanks for your help!!!

You cannot file the same state resident and non resident return from the same federal joint return.  If you are using the download version, you will need to create a second return.  Follow the instructions in the link below to file the second PA return.

How do I prepare a joint federal return and separate state returns?
