how to import tax info from vanguard brokerage account

First you need your Vanguard 1099-B statement which you get from the Vanguard online Tax Center. One page 1 (actually the 3rd page in the pdf file), is the main summary. At the top right there is a Document ID. You will need that and something else off this form (I think it was the Payer's TIN which is in the upper left corner). The import dialog box that pops up asks for these two things.

This is a nice way of doing it, as you don't use your username/password like you have to do for most other brokerages.
