I was used turbotax self-employer version last year but I'm not self employed this year at 2018,just having a W-2 form. I'd like to switch to the deluxe edition. But the website keep redirecting me to self-employee version.

Based on your information, if you are using TurboTax Self-Employed online edition (not TurboTax Business), you can simply use the "clear and start over" feature in the program. Please beware that by doing so, it erases the current entries if there are any ( I hope you have not done much yet), but will keep the previous information from last year including your personal info, the income categories and the different schedules you have filed.  Follow the prompts and program will revisit those areas for clarification and assist you to select the appropriate version for your new tax return.

1. Sign into your account, select Take me to my return

2.  To your left, select Tools, click on the drop-down menu

3. Select Clear and Start Over

4.  Follow the prompts to select the right version

You need to fix this. All entered information should not be lost by changing packages. This practice is fishy and reeks of bait and switch. Shame on me for expecting a tax adviser to be ethical. I will strongly be considering not using turbotax next year.
