Question

How to upload previous year's tax return? TurboTax claims incorrect information about previous year.

For example, it claims I had $0 tax liability in 2021, which is incorrect.  How can I upload 2021's 1040 so that TurboTax has the right previous information to go off of?

I get options to file or amend previous year taxes - but no option to simply upload the 1040. "It looks like you didn't file a 2021 return with TurboTax Online."

Where is you 2021 return?  Did you use the Desktop installed program or the Online version?  If you used online you might be in the wrong account. It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online.

    I have a PDF of the 1040.

I have tried "Tax Tools" > "Tools" > "Transfer last year's TurboTax return from your computer", but it won't allow PDF of my 1040.

It says I can proceed and enter information manually - but it jumps straight to 2022 information. I never get a chance to enter information from 2021 such as tax liabilities, etc.  In final review - TurboTax Online incorrectly  assumes $0 for everything and standard deduction from last year.
