Question

How/where do I enter 2018 1099-R information of a 2017 amended tax return?

In 2017 I put $6500 into a Roth IRA.  When I went to file my taxes Turbo Tax told me that I couldn't put that much in so I had my brokerage move $500 to 2018 and adjusted my contribution to the Roth IRA on my taxes by that amount.  For 2018 I received a 2018-R with JP in box 7.  Turbo Tax is saying I need to amend my 2017 return.  What do I amend on it and which fields from the 1099-R do I use to amend it?

You will have to enter the 1099-R as shown in your 2017 amended tax return  (add the 1099-R to your return). After you entered the 1099-R TurboTax will ask you "which year is on form 1099-R?" and then TurboTax will handle the rest.

Please see this FAQ on how to amend your 2017 tax return:
