HSA Contribution

I was on Cobra all 2020 family plan for my husband and myself.  He is over 55.   I contributed $8,100 to our HSA directly, the 'extra' $1,000 since he is over 55.   Now, turbo tax is telling me I contributed $1,000 in excess and is calculating tax on that.   Why isn't $8,100 the correct amount?   That is what I contributed the year before through my employer.

It depends. Please see Why am I showing an excess HSA contribution in 2020? for why you could be showing an excess contribution on your HSA.
