HSA contributions

I'm a bit confused concerning the HSA deduction comments that I have read. I have $1,800 in box 12d Code W.

But then on Form 5498-SA there is an amount of $1,819,25 in box 2.

Are both of these deductible or are they the same thing?

Thanks.

The code W amount has already been deducted from your income. When your W-2 was printed, your employer had already removed the code W amount from Wages in boxes 1, 3, and 5. This is why you do not enter the code W amount anywhere else in your return. Seriously, the code W amount was never in your income, so don't enter it any place else on your return.

Line 2 on the 5498-SA can contain all sorts of things in addition to your code W amount (you can read about that here), but, you should not enter this number anywhere on your TurboTax return.

You can enter as "personal" contributions any amounts (if any) you sent directly to the HSA custodian...NOT the code W amount.
