HSA LIMITS - Impacted by Medicare

I have a family HDHP for all of 2018

I became 65 in July and enrolled in Medicare Part A only

My wife and I are both over 55 (catch up contribution)

I contributed $5267 during 2018 because I did not know that I was not eligible once enrolled on Medicare

TurboTax advised that I had to remove $2049 from my HSA account by April 15 to eliminate excess contribution - I did that

Now I am opening a HSA for my wife and TurboTax is only allowing $1250.00 without additional excess contributions.

She was covered all year with HDHP and should be able to contribute $4,450 for 2018 ---- RIGHT?

best to review forms 8889-S and 8889-T to see how the math is determined
