You cannot buy a CD for 2024, but you can buy the same TurboTax Deluxe as a download instead of a CD. The TurboTax Deluxe download for 2024 is the same software that you have been using from the CD. The only difference is that you install it from a download instead of from a CD. Once it's installed it's exactly the same.
@cwrigley2 Sorry no more CD. You can burn the installation file to a CD or save to a usb flash drive.
But since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac). You can also burn the installation file to a CD or save to a usb flash drive.
But even if you have the CDs you won’t be able to reinstall 2020 or prior. They only support the last 3 years. And the License Code started in 2019. So 2019 needs to connect to Turbo Tax to verify the License Code. But they have stopped supporting 2019. So you can’t install and activate 2019 and newer when they stop supporting each year going forward.
I am a retired tax preparer. I still provide tax services on a volunteer basis for handicap and other disabled persons as well as homeless folks in my area for tax support. I provide guidance to folks unfamiliar to Snohomish County, Washington State, Low income and Seniors tax form submissions to Washington State Property Tax Applications. I receive NO income for this support as an unpaid support volunteer. I have previously worked as an unpaid volunteer for United Way, Snohomish County, Washington, and AARP of Everett, Washington. The Tax forms are submitted several times though the year and having my clients, who pay for Turbo Tax on their own, need to resubmit forms and resubmitted several times, due to the variance in defining income per WAC and / or expenses based on Medicare and medicad expenses also under WAC guidelines. I do not prepare the forms but I do review their prior submissions and try to resolve issues these needed people face. Therefore, I request a copy of 2024 Turbo Tax CD to continue my volunteer work as it make the submission process simplified. I have been using Turbo Tax going back to 1981.

This is complete bull**bleep**. Turbo Tax wants everything to be downloads because it saves them millions of dollars on CD manufacturer. When computer crashes you have no CD to reinstall. Yet the price keeps going up every year though.
@hunter thompson Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.
@jl427dl This information is in this thread already---several times---but here it is again. AFTERyou purchase the desktop download and have your license code you can purchase a CD if you want one.

So please confirm for me. If I purchase the 2024 software as a download and not on disk and my computer (which is older) crashes and I need to purchase a new computer, I will be able to download the 2024 software on the new computer?
Yes, you would be able to download the software again if it crashed or you switched computers. See the TurboTax help article below for more information on how you would be able to download your software again if needed:
What state? In the Desktop program you have to pay the state efile fee for each state return if you efile or you can print and mail state for free. Only New York is free to efile.
Though I started my 2024 taxes via TurboTax, I may backout and go with an actual software disc providing company. I literally have 23 versions of TurboTax from the past 23 years and this is the WORST TURBOTAX situation EVER. IT'S ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! DON'T DO IT
I have yet to see a clear answer to what users will be able to do if we ever need to re-install the product that is more than 3 years ago. Especially given the last few years logging into a TT acct is required and now there is no longer a CD even included.
Let's use TT2024 Desktop as an example:
- If a user were to pay for the $10 for a CD (or were to download and burn their own CD if this is even possible), and the user also saved the 2024 manual updates file, then in 2029 would the user be able to install and run the 2024 software if needed? Or has Intuit essentially imposed a 3 year deadline on the use of thier software on any machines other than the one it was initially installed?
Well as far as I am concerned : I bought and paid good money for a download> So; I will burn it to disc! If I don`t receive a cd copy I paid them for in 1 more week!
