What is your visa type?  How long have you been staying in the US?

If you are not on a F, J or G-visa, and you have stayed in the US for at least 183 days in 2020 or meet the Substantial Presence Test Substantial Presence Test , generally you will be considered as a resident for tax purposes.  You will file your taxes on a Form 1040 just like most of the American citizens or Greencard holders.

If you meet certain requirements, you may claim your child as a dependent and other possible child related tax benefits.  To see eligibility, click here: Child Tax Benefits

Please write back if you are on one of the above visas with details.
