I am an F1 international student with income and I filed the tax form, and mailed it; but the shipping carrier (USPS) lost it; IRS transcript shows my form never reached.

Now I don't have the original W-2 forms because they are attached in the envelope I filed in the last time, which got lost.

I am wondering can I use e-file at this moment? It's ok for me to get less return payment, I just want to know if this is legit for international student using Turbotax to e-file after the original tax form is lost.

I am sorry to hear that your original return was lost in the post!

Unfortunately, TurboTax does not support the form that international students file, Form 1040NR.  We recommend Sprintax.com.

Alternately, if you have copies of your W2s you can attach those to the new tax return when you mail it.  Simply attach an explanation that the originals were lost.  If you have the information, but not the copies, you can file and use this form to accompany the data: Form 4852.
