Question

I am married, on a divorce process, filing separately and I want to file my student loans paid interest. Is that possible?

No, you cannot claim the American Opportunity Credit, the Lifetime Learning Credit, or the Tuition and Fees deduction if your filing status is married filing separately. In some cases, you may be able to file as single or head of household if you are legally married but separated. You can file as single if you're legally separated under your state's laws and you don't live with your spouse the last 6 months of the year.
