Question

I am on a joint account with my fiancé but we are filing separate. Do we both need to claim the 1099 int forms or just one of us?

The account will be under either your social security number or your fiance's.  The IRS will be matching the 1099-Int based on that social security number.  The person who's number is on the account should report it.  Do not both report the same interest.  If you want to split the interest, deduct the amount from the responsible taxpayers return on a separate line showing the other's social security number with the description " interest being reported by "insert social security number".
