Question

I am on SSDI and was told I would get the tax preparation for FREE. I finished the preparation and being charged $120.00. I am getting no money back and owe nothing being under the total tax burden. I

You strayed into the wrong program.  You are posting from a paid version of the software called Self-Employed.  If SSDI is your ONLY income you could use the IRS non-filer site.  But do NOT use this site if you need to file an actual tax return,

If you receive any other income in addition to the SSDI you may be able to use Free File.

 

If you qualify to use it, there is another full-featured free version of the software:

You qualify if your income was $36,000 or less, or $69,000 or less if active duty military, or if you qualify for Earned Income Credit

Note:  If you do not qualify to use Free File then you will have to upgrade to Deluxe or higher in the paid versions of the software.
