Question

I am trying to use my 1098 as a tax break, TurboTax told me I needed to pay 40 to file and now it is trying to charge me 120.

TurboTax Free Edition (and TurboTax Live Basic) are intended for taxpayers with very simple returns that can fit on the new 1040 form without any schedules. You can claim the 1098 Mortgage Interest if you itemize your deduction. In order to itemize you need to upgrade to a version that supports the forms you need.
