Question

I am unable to import my 1099/1099-B from Wells Fargo, but the document is online and available. Is there a problem with the import process? It has worked in the past.

We have not heard of any problems with Wells Fargo import.

TurboTax is not allowing me to import Wells Fargo's docs either.

Nor I. According to WF, all is well.

Is this still an issue of 3/5/2020? My import was "successful" as in no error. But turbo tax just created a bunch of empty blank place holders with no import information.

If you are unable to import this information, you can always enter it manually. Here's where you enter your 1099-B in TurboTax:

  1. Open (continue) your return if it isn't already open.
  2. In TurboTax, search for 1099-B and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you sell stocks, mutual funds, bonds, or other investments in 2019. If you see Here's the info we have for these investment sales, select Add More Sales.
  4. Answer Yes to Did you get a 1099-B or brokerage statement for these sales?
  5. At Let's get your tax info, choose type it in yourself.
  6. Follow the instructions.

Wow, thanks Turbo Tax. We can import it MANUALLY!

The price for Turbo Tax keeps going up, and we pay all this money, but the functionality is getting WORSE!!!

Why continue to use this software if it gets worse each year???

In March 2020, I am also unable to import my 1099 from Wells Fargo.  The document is ready.  I confirmed that I have the correct userid and password.  I confirmed that the Wells Fargo system is up and running.  There must be a problem with the interface between Turbotax and Wells Fargo.  Does anyone have a solution?

I am sorry, but if you are unable to import your data, you will need to manually input the data from Wells Fargo.  Here's how:

1. While in your Tax Home,

2. Select Search from the top right side of your screen,

3. Enter 1099-B,

4. Select Jump to 1099-B,

5. Follow the On-Screen Prompts to complete this section.

That is not helpful. There are links to turbo tax that clearly say you can import and make filing easy.

It is now March 12 and I have received my amended 1099 forms (by mail) but i still get an error message when trying to import.

Doing it manually is not helpful.

Date: 03/17/2020 (7:50 pm pacific): "Unsuccessful" when importing 1099-INT from "Wells Fargo Bank." Have received paper copies of 1099-INT but prefer importing digitally so that any missing paper trail in mail is not a problem. It worked last year and possibly years prior to that also.

Please help us by working with Wells Fargo Bank to fix the issue.

I am sorry you are having a problem with this. Sometimes it can result from how your computer is interacting with the program.

You can try clearing the cache on your computer as follows:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/troubleshooting/help/how-to-clear-your-cache/00/26135

Also, you can try logging in using a different browser or computer if you have one.

you're not logging in on the web-- you're working in  turbo tax...

When trying to import from Wells Fargo  please SEARCH for the bank name in the search bar. Banks can have many portals. For Wells Fargo there are 3 possible portals (Wells Fargo, Wells Fargo Advisor, etc)  It is my experience that most individuals who have consolidated tax summaries, 1099-div, 1099-int, 1099-b need to import from the Wells Fargo Advisor portal.  Hope this helps!

I finally figured out the solution (at least for me).  There are 3 options for various Wells Fargo businesses, and I needed to select Wells Fargo Advisors because I have a consolidated 1099 that encompasses several accounts.

YES, I am experiencing the Exact Same Problem! There is definitely a problem, and I called Wells Fargo Bank, and they confirmed it is a known problem on the Turbo Tax side, since all their data is up and available.

The Turbo Tax screen does the first input of name, then comes back with Wells Fargo's additional security of typing in the temp code from my phone. When I do that, Turbo Tax says, "Error Importing".

What's up Turbo Tax????

Just got off the phone with TurboTax support.  It sounds like a known bug, and was told to try back tomorrow or call another support number to get some actual help.  I gotta say the importing is one of the reasons you buy this software and over the past few years it's been hit or miss.  You would think it's the one thing the package would do well.

Wow, this issue is almost 2 years old and it's still not fixed and Intuit is still giving excuses.  I'm a loyal TurboTax user after a bad experience with one of their competitors but now I'm starting to question that loyalty.  This type of issue shouldn't take this long to fix, especially with one of the nation's largest banks.  Intuit get your act together and fix this already.

Not clear on what the problem is.  I imported from Wells Fargo Advisors just fine.

April 17, 2021

My Wells Fargo import is failing.  I am able to log into the Wells Fargo website and see the documents online.  I don't want to have to waste time entering all the data manually, this is why I pay more for Turbo Tax instead of TaxAct.  TurboTax FIX IT!!!

April 23, 2021

This issue is being worked on, however the only other option is to enter the information manually.  In some instances, you may be able to combine the amounts so as to limit the entries.

In Turbo Tax drop down menu for financial institutions, don't use Wells Fargo go to First Clearing.

First Clearing is the backroom for Wells Fargo Advisors.

I am unable to import my 1099/1099-B from both CHASE and Bank of America, but the document is online and available. Is there a problem with the import process? It has worked in the past.  I've tried this for several days.
