If you have not filed your tax return, sign into your Turbo Tax account and follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Personal Info tab
  2. Click on Edit next to the person's name
  3. Enter the correct social security number
  4. Click Continue

If you have already filed your tax return, it will likely be rejected due to the incorrect social security number. If it is rejected, please follow the steps listed above to enter the correct social security number and re-submit your return.

If your tax return is accepted, you will need to file an amended return to correct it. You will file the amended return on Form 1040X. Here are the Amending instructions:

  1. Sign in to Turbo Tax Deluxe (Windows)
  2. Click on the Federal Taxes tab
  3. Scroll down to Other Tax Forms
  4. Click Start next to Amend a Return
  5. Follow the directions to Amend your return
  6. Print and mail your amended return

To get credit for 2017 1040 ES submittals:

  3. Choose Deductions and Credits
  4. Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  5. Click on Start next to Estimates
  6. Click on Start next to Federal Estimated taxes for 2017
  7. Press Continue
  8. Click Done with Tax Payments
