I came to US in 5/16 (new immigrant), 5-7 no insurance.I have insur (1095-C) cover period from 8 to 12. As I did not live in US from period 1/16-4/16, do I have exempt?

The tax penalty for not having health insurance in 2016 can be waived if the individual was a U.S. citizen or resident but lived in a foreign country or U.S. territory for the entire year.
