I can not claim my son and daughter as a dependant. Must I fill out there health coverage and calculate their modified adjusted income? Why

My wife was not covered  for the last 3 month of 2016.

Son does is own taxes return. His coverage I am not sure of. What data do I need from him, if any.

Daughter files a tax return separately which I have access to. she was covered for the entire year.

I am trying to determine if my wife has to pay a penalty; how much.

I am covered for the entire year.

You don't have to enter any information about your son and your daughter if you don't claim them as dependents on your tax return. If you're filing a joint return, you need the information for yourself and your wife.
