Question

I can't finish my W2 because I live in TN, and that is not an option in the drop-down box for Box 15. The website says it should be left blank, but that doesn't work.

Clicking on the question mark on Box 15, there is this line: "If you lived or worked in a state with no income tax, this will be blank." However, this does not seem to be the case. I have TNEXEMPT in the Employer's state ID number. TN is not an option in the drop down menu. And yet, I can't continue without selecting a state. How can I continue?

Several  states do not have a state income tax.  So these states will not show up in certain drop down lists.   Leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 blank when you enter a W-2 for these states.

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming
