I can’t tell if my tax return is filed. I never filed them! But it says it is filed and read to mail. PlDid it e-file behind my back? Are they filed at all?

Ready to Mail indicates that the tax return has Not been e-filed. You have to print, sign, date and mail the tax return to the IRS.

I have a signature ID, but I can't tell if the taxes were filed because so many other screens came up asking additional questions.

Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?

Did you efile? Was it Accepted? You can check your efile status here

When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?
