Question

I chose PLUS when signing up to file my taxes for $30, but at the end of filing, Turbo Tax is charging me $70. Why is that? Cheryl Hagy xxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx

The TurboTax free edition does not cover all forms and tax situations.

To see what you are being charged for:

  1. After signing in to TurboTax, open or continue your return.
  2. Select Tax Tools on the left side of the screen and then Tools.
  3. Tools Center box will pop up on your screen.
  4. Select the My Fees box on the right.

Tip: If these instructions don't work (for example, on your mobile device) open the File section and then proceed to the Review Your Order screen. This also shows the breakdown of your charges.

To see what forms are covered by the TurboTax Free Edition see: Commonly Filed Tax Forms and Schedules

To reduce your fees, see: What can I do to reduce my fees?

It would have been nice if i had been TOLD that if I used my refund to pay for the $30 fee that you were going to charge me $40 for using my refund to pay for it, otherwise I would have gone ahead and paid you immediately. [email address removed]

On the page where you selected to have the TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund, the service charge of $40 was shown.
