Question

I completed a 2210 as part of my federal filing and still received a huge penalty like it wasn't even submitted at all. How do I reconcile this?

How can I tell if Turbo Tax submitted this to the IRS? I can see in my state taxes I didn't pay a penalty. (I made 90% of my yearly income after September 1st, 2024).

Print and examine your tax return.  Did your tax return include Schedule AI of Form 2210?  Annualizing income on Schedule AI is how you allocate your income to particular tax quarters.  Without Schedule AI, you income is by default treated as having been received evenly throughout the year.

Although you owe a penalty, unless you used Form 2210 Part II. Form 2210 will not be attached .

90 percent of your income is not relevant.

90 % of your income tax as withholding is what is needed for Federal Form 1040.

    State formulas may vary.
