Question

I did doordash for a few months do I still have to fill out a 1040 form for self-employment? Doordash gave me a 1099 NEC

Yes, since you received 1099-NEC from Doordash, you will have to fill out a Schedule C in your return subject to self-employment.

 

Doordash should provide to you a document showing the breakdown of your income and expenses for on your Sch C.

Doordash will send a 1099-NEC. They wont have any idea what a drivers expenses are. Thats up to the driver to record mileage, cell phone use, PPE expenses and anything else to deduct against the income.
