If you did not receive any dividends during the year, you do not need to complete that section. If the question pops up, you can either enter "0" or leave blank

If possible, contact the financial institution and request a copy of the 1099 - preferably by email.

Some institutions do not issue 1099s if the interest or dividend was less than a minimum threshold. (my bank has a $10 threshold.)

If that happens, be sure to get the amount of interest or dividends from the financial institution. Then, type that information into your TurboTax file manually. Use the additional 1099 button.
