This is a user community forum, but we can tell you how that program works and how you can get help from TurboTax Support, if needed.

 

It's confusing when you said the friend also never received anything ("neither of us").   By using the special invitation you sent to the friend to file a return, the invited friend should have received a discount off of any online Federal product at the time of return preparation and filing.   Did your friend correctly use their invitation and received their discount when filing?

Then up to 45 days after your friend redeemed their special offer, you should have received an email with your reward information to get your electronic gift certificate.   How long has it been?   

 

See the following FAQ for info on the Invite-a-Friend Program.   It tells you how everything works and the requirements.  If it's been longer than 45 days, one of the paragraphs there asks "What if I referred my friend, they completed their taxes with TurboTax, but I never got a reward?"   If you expand that section, it provides a link to contact TurboTax Support.
