Everything seems to work but for the last step of E-filling when it asks for a bank account to deliver the funds. Even if I try to choose the option of a check by mail it freezes also.

You cannot e-file a 2016 tax return.  You have to print it, sign it and mail it.  E-filing for 2016 is permanently closed.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return.

You cannot e-file a 2016 tax return.  It has to be printed, signed and mailed.

@kimmerray

You need to read the response form macuser_22 down below on how to get thru using "Forms Mode"

That is a incompatibility with Mac OSX 10.13 that did not exist when TurboTax 2016 was released so it will not be fixed. It has to do with the way OSX 10.13 handles the instructions to open the screen that Apple changed.

The workaround, if you want direct deposit or debit is to not press any button, but to switch to the forms mode, and on the Info Wks part V, manually check direct deposit or direct debt box, fill in the bank routing and account number and return to the interview - the screen will now be opened with the bank information.

If you want a mailed check, then that is the default. Again switch to the forms mode to be sure then both direct deposit and debit boxes are marked no.

Use the File -> Print -> Print for filing and print, sign and mail the return. There is no need to return to the interview since the next screen when you want a check mailed is an option to add "Audit defense for $59.99" and then to print for filing.

[If you do want to purchase Audit Defense, I suggest purchasing directly from https://intuit.taxaudit.com/ ]

Besides the e-file vs mail issue...there is a second one too.

TTX 2016 was not updated to work with OS X 10.13.  TTX has said they have no plans to do so.

Other, MAC users with the exact problem you report...they have found that they can open their file in Forms Mode....make the changes they need about the Refund and Bank..or mail, in the Federal Information Worksheet (Part V).  then print the forms needed from Forms Mode.

Not sure if they can switch back to the interview to print from the file menu or not

@macuser_22

he may have better info on how to accomplish this if some my info is somewhat "off".
I don't have a MAC...so I don't have the details.
