Question

I didn't get my W2s from my previous job bt I started the filing process. How can I erase it and start over when I get them?

If you have already "completed" your tax return online, and then went through the full e-file process to send your tax return to the IRS, then you actually cannot get that tax return back to correct it, or delete it, or add any information to it.  The analogy is like dropping a letter in the mailbox; once you've put it through the mail slot, it can't be removed and returned to you.  However, if you have not yet fully completed the e-file process, then your tax return has not yet actually been transmitted to the government, and you should be able to go back to the Income section of the TurboTaxsoftware and add any additional W-2s that you may have.

Or, if you wish, you can create a brand new TurboTax online (Free) account and start over from scratch.  (That might be the equivalent of what you mean by erase and start over again.)

What should you do, though, if you have already e-filed, but now need to include some additional W-2s?  Well, you'll have to do what is known as "amend" your tax return (don't worry, millions of Americans do it every year).

For an amended tax return, you have to wait until the original (wrong) tax return is filed, processed and a tax refund issued (or payment check to the government cashed).  That can take a couple of weeks.  After this has happened, you can then file a new, amended, tax return to either correct a mistake, or to add additional information.

While the amended filing process for the 2016 tax year is not yet available in TurboTax, it will be soon.  Here are a pair of links you can use to learn more about amended tax returns, and specifically our TurboTax process for doing so in 2016 (the webpages at this links will be updated accordingly with new information, when available).
