I divorced in 2017 my ex husband was ordered to pay alimony. Do I need to claim the alimony for my taxes? FYI I am on social security disability.

I filed my taxes for 2019 thinking I had to claim alimony but I’m not sure I was supposed to. Can someone clarify please.

If your divorce agreement was executed by December 31, 2018, then you do need to report the alimony as income on your tax return.
