Question

I don't have a social security number for my daughter, but I do have the birth certificate. Do I have an alternative way?

To claim a dependent you must have a SSN.  A birth certificate alone cannot be used to claim your dependent.

Tax deadline is not until April 18.  If your child was born at the end of 2016 you can get a SSN before then.
