Question

I don't live in the US anymore (was on a 3 year work transfer from UK) so have no address there. How do I file? I thought I had until July as I'm over there in 2 weeks.

If you live outside the US, you have until June 15th to file. If you are trying to file now, you would need to enter your current address if you file now or you can file for a 6 month extension.   Click here to file an extension.

Automatic 2-month extension.

You are allowed an automatic 2-month extension to file your return and pay federal income tax if you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, and on the regular due date of your return:

  • You are living outside the United States and Puerto Rico and your main place of business or post of duty is outside the United States and Puerto Rico, or
  • You are in military or naval service on duty outside the United States and Puerto Rico.
