Question

I don't see a dividends option for what's the source of the 1099 Misc? I have this income from my Wealthfront investment.

I have a 1099-DIV form from Wealthfront. I'm entering the information for 1099- Misc on TT and it's asking what's the source of the 1099- Misc money. I see "rental income, income for your business, farm rental income, nonbusiness income..etc." There's no option for dividends from investment.

Dividends are not entered as a 1099-MISC. Instead you should use the link below to enter the dividends and then delete Form 1099-MISC with the instructions also included below.

    Delete Form 1099-MISC:

    • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
    • If you're using TurboTax Desktop software and need to delete a form, click here.

if you did get a 1099-MISC not a 1099-DIV .... when you enter it be sure to say "no" to the question about whether it was for an "intent to earn money" etc or it will trigger Schedule C instead of going to Schedule 1.
