Question

I don't see how to update my profile/taxes to indicate that I am divorced/no longer filing jointly

the last time I used turbotax I was married. I'd used an accountant for the last several years, and my former husband and I divorced years ago. We've both been filing single for years. My account is still seeking information about my former spouse, and I don't see a way to update that I am intending to file as a single taxpayer.

You should start a new account with a new user ID.   If you use the same account that was used for past year joint returns, there is embedded "spouse stuff" that will drive you nuts and give you errors as you try to prepare your return.

Verify that you are filling Single and not Married Filling Separately.

You no longer need, nor should you have any reference to your former husband.

    1. Go to My Info on the left sidebar.
    2. Scan your information to confirm your Ex. is not on their!
    3. Open your personal information using the down arrow.
    4. It should show Filing Status Single, or Head of Household (if you have a child)

If you do have a child there may be a series of questions about the father regarding custody.

If you did have an incorrect filing status you will have to file an Amended return.

If that is the case, please contact us again.
