Question

I don't want my forms imported directly from financial institutions. I'll fill information from 1099-Int myself. Can I do this?

Yes, that is certainly an option.

Use the following steps to get started with entering your interest income reported on Form 1099-INT.  Just follow the prompts on the screen and indicate that you want to skip importing and type it in yourself.

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “interest income” and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to interest income
  • Click on the blue “Jump to interest income” link and enter your information

When you are in any section where importing is an option just scroll down to the bottom of the screen to choose the "change how "   and then  "type in myself" option ...
