Question

I don't want to use turbo tax live. The downgrade instructions tell me to select a choice on the left menu that isn't there.

I'm on the "would you like help from an expert now?" screen. All the choices involve some sort of live help. I don't want any live help at all. I feel like I'm being tricked into committing to $129 or whatever it costs.

If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2024 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
