@delisa11! There is a separate charge of $34.99 for that service, known as the Refund Processing Service. So those are two charges for the same dollar amount, but for two separate items.

As SuperUser Kat mentioned above, one of the fees is the refund processing fee when one chooses to pay out of the Federal refund.

If you haven't yet filed, and if you want to remove that choice, you can remove the refund processing option and once removed, then you can pay upfront with credit card, debit card, or a prepaid debit card you can buy in a store. The method to remove it depends on your location, so choose the FAQ below.

It's a scam. Even if your discount works after you enter everything they charge you an additional $36 to file state.
I called turbotax, they told me I have to redo everything. Better yet, they told me turbotax isn't actually charging me, it's the state cost. I live in CA, there is no fee.
After I told her this she put me on hold, came back and told me it was the IRS fee.
Never using TurboTax again
