Question

I efiled my federal and state taxes. My federal was accepted but my state taxes now says ready mailed and printed. How do I see if my state taxes were actually efiled?

If your state return says "ready to mail" it has not been e-filed.  If you mailed your federal return, then you have to mail your state return, too.  A state return cannot be e-filed unless the federal was e-filed and accepted.  Or did you e-file your federal early, before you could send in the state return?  You can try to e-file the state, or print it and mail it in--but TurboTax does not mail it for you.  If you are mailing it, you have to mail it yourself.

How do I submit the state taxes electronically if it already says printed ready to mail?

As long as you haven't already mailed your 2020 paper return, you can switch to the e-filing method (through October 15, 2021). However, some states now require e-filing, which means the federal and state must be e-filed together. Please see the information here for assistance with e-filing.
