Question

I filed for my stimulus check for COV-19, and I am now needing to file my tax return for 2019. Which option am I to choose for this?

NOTE - If you Registered for the Stimulus on the website provided by TurboTax, then any 2019 tax return that you complete will have to be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.  The IRS already has received your information for 2019 and will not accept another e-filed return with your name and Social Security number.

You can start with the Free online edition - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

Or if eligible you can use the TurboTax Free File Program - https://freefile.intuit.com/

To qualify for free 2019 federal and state tax returns with the Free File Program, you'll need to meet at least one of these requirements:

  • A maximum 2019 adjusted gross income (AGI) of $36,000; or
  • You qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC); or
  • You served as active duty military (including Reservists and National Guard) with a maximum 2019 AGI of $69,000 (you'll also need a military-issued W-2).
