I filed head of household when I'm supposed to file Single

You will file as single when you do not qualify to file as Head of Household.

The requirements to file as head of household are; you must: 

  • Pay for more than half of the household expenses 

  • Be considered unmarried for the tax year, and 

  • You must have a qualifying child or dependent. 

If you do not meet these requirements then you will file as single.
