If you filed a 2018 federal tax return and had a federal tax refund requesting direct deposit of the federal refund, the stimulus payment will be direct deposited into that account, assuming the account is still active.

If you did not have a tax refund or did not request direct deposit then the IRS will send a check to the address on the 2018 tax return.  The check is issued with both of your names on the check.  It cannot be cashed or deposited without both of your signatures on the check.

The IRS cannot change which account the stimulus payment is going to be direct deposited into.  If this was a joint bank account for the direct deposit and the account has either been closed or the names on the account has been changed, the bank will reject the direct deposit.  The IRS will then send a check to the address on the tax return.
